Your voices are important! Male Caregivers Advocacy Support Group (MCAS) is made up of fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, male cousins, and other men who care about children with special health care needs.
MCAS offers you a safe place to give and receive the emotional support that you need as you care for a child with special health care needs. During MCAS meetings, you’ll share information, provide support and take part in trainings that empower you in your role as a caregiver.
MCAS members participate in local interviews and have been featured participants at the Afro America Family and School Readiness conferences. In addition, MCAS members contribute to community events where they advocate on behalf of the growing health care needs of their children, families and their community by applying the different trainings they received. The MCAS program was listed as a best practice model in the District of Columbia’s 2007 Medicaid Annual Report and received the 2011 National Fatherhood Initiative Grant for capacity building.
We provide transportation to PALs meetings, child care, and hot meals to HSCSN members.
